Have you heard about the new GPS treasure hunt game going on right here in our community? It’s called “GEOCACHING,” and it has exploded around the world. This hands-on workshop introduces youngsters and adults of all ages to this fascinating new game.
Included in this workshop will be a very brief history of the game, things to consider when “geocaching,” and an interactive lesson on how GPS works. All students will learn the basic skills of operating a handheld GPS receiver and will get to locate hidden treasure containers, known as “caches,” on the park property.
Please wear comfortable clothing, walking shoes, and bring a water bottle. The workshop is held on site.
Geocaching is going on in your parks and community, and this is the perfect opportunity to get the family outside and check it out! We will have handheld GPS receivers for the workshop, or if you have one, you may bring it to the workshop. Register one week before class session for instructor to plan accordingly.

Geocaching is a great addition to any road trip or vacation. So immensely popular that, with a quick check on your handheld GPS, you can find a geocache just about anywhere, anytime, around the world. My son and I integrate these into our road trips. They create a great activity for those long, boring stretches of road when you need to stretch your legs. Some of these are so creatively-located or contain such facsinating treasures, that they warrant a seperate page in your scrapbook!
