Summer reading at the Flower Mound Public Library is fun for all ages. Children ages four through grade eight can Catch the Reading Express starting Thursday, June 10. For every seven days that a Reading Express participant reads for at least 20 minutes, they will earn a prize.
When they complete 21 days of reading, they will get to choose a free paperback book to keep. For each additional seven days of reading completed, they will be eligible to enter a drawing for six grand prizes.
Receive awards for every seven days that you read at least 20 minutes:
- Reading Log #1: Reading Certificate + Texas Rangers baseball ticket (or similar entertainment discount ) + a special prize
- Reading Log #2: Your name on the Reader Wall (preK and elementary students only) + a special prize
- Reading Log #3: Free paperback book to keep!
- Additional Logs: Play the Guessing Game for a chance to win a Grand Prize (book bags filled with a Reading Club t-shirt, paperback books, and other prizes)
In addition to reading for prizes, special events will be offered throughout the summer (see below). Wednesday evenings will feature special family events, including game nights, movie nights and storytimes. On Thursday afternoons, performers will present exciting shows for children ages four and up.
Adults and teens are invited to pick up a Book Bingo form at the Library beginning June 1. Read to win prizes. Events for adults include a Book Lover’s Social and book clubs.

July 21 Family Story Time: Let the Sun Shine (ages 2-10 +adults)

Theater on Thursdays (ages 4+)
Thursdays, 2:00pm AND 3:15pm
Shows are at 2:00 and 3:15 each Thursday. Because seating is limited,
tickets are required for admission. Tickets are free, and will be
issued first-come, first-served at the Youth Services desk beginning at
9:00am on the day of the show. A valid Flower Mound Library card must
be presented to receive tickets. Limit of eight tickets per group.
Children MUST be age 4 or older to attend. Parents and younger siblings
may wait in the library, where activities for younger children will be
provided.
