The Lake Dallas Police Department and Municipal Court will host the annual ‘Kids ‘N Cops’ Open House / Cook-Out and Safety Fair on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Lake Dallas City Hall on Main Street.
The ‘Kids N Cops’ program encourages positive relationships between police officers and children. The objective is realized through programs and activities that bring the two together. The most popular has proven to be the yearly open house and cook-out that occurs on the last Saturday in April of each year. Started by Chief Nick Ristagno in 1999, the upcoming 2013 event marks the 14th anniversary for the program that is coordinated annually by Sergeant Vikki Chandler, the departmental champion for the entire program.
In 2011, the Police Department and the Lake Dallas Municipal Court joined together to include safety education and training presented in a festive environment during this yearly occurrence. Children and parents are invited to attend the free event that includes food, soft drinks, gifts, T-shirts, educational material, safety training, fun activities and music.
