Sunrise Service Flower Mound
Sunrise Service Flower Mound: 43 years ago, in 1974, the first Easter Sunrise Service was held on the Flower Mound.
The Easter Service quickly became a Flower Mound tradition that has been carried on by The Summit Club, The Women of Flower Mound, & The Mound Foundation. On behalf of the three Flower Mound civic organizations, we want to invite everyone to this year’s service.
Since 1974, we have invited youth groups of a Flower Mound church’s to present a service, song and praise. This year’s Easter Sunrise Service will be March 27th, with sunrise at 07:22am. Plan to get there by 630am, the service will start about 7am, and end by 730am. We plan a 25-30 minute service ending with a dramatic sunrise.
The Mound is located near the intersection of FM3040 & FM2499. Parking will be in the Tom Thumb and neighboring parking lots.
The nature of a native prairie grasslands is wild plants. We strongly recommend comfortable clothing over your Sunday best. A short walk up to the Mound is required to see the Service, and the Sunrise. Getting there by 630am will insure you have time to park, and make the walk in time. The Mound is a 12+acre native prairie grassland that rises above the surrounding area. It makes a dramatic backdrop for the Service. Over 300 species of native flowers have been identified on The Mound. The Sunrise Service is somewhat rustic. There is no stage. The worship leaders are somewhat down from the crest of the Mound, facing west. Those worshiping sit on the ground or in lawn chairs facing a beautiful sunrise (hopefully).
We invite everyone to the Service. This year, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been asked to preside at the service.
Light refreshments and coffee are being provided by local merchants, and will be available after the services. Please come, and join us.
If Heavy rains occur, the service will be canceled.
