The Easter Service is a yearly tradition which began 43 years ago, and has been carried on by The Summit Club, The Women of Flower Mound, & The Mound Foundation. On behalf of the three Flower Mound civic organizations, we want to invite everyone to the service.
Since 1972, we have invited youth of an area church to present a service, song and praise.
This year the service will be April 5, with sunrise at 07:11am. Plan to get there by 625am, the service will start about 650am, and end about 715am. A 25 minute service will be presented featuring a dramatic sunrise.
The Mound is located near the intersection of FM3040 & FM2499. Parking will be in the Tom Thumb parking lot. Because of the nature of native prairie grasslands, comfortable clothing is recommended over your Sunday best. A short walk up to Mound is required to see the Service, and the Sunrise. Getting there by 625am will insure you have made the walk in time.
This year, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is presenting the service.
The Mound is an 11+acre native prairie grassland that rises above the surrounding area. It makes a dramatic backdrop for the Service. Over 300 species of native flowers have been identified on The Mound.
Light refreshments and coffee are being provided by local merchants, and will be available after the services. Please come, and join us.
If Heavy rains are occurring, the service will be canceled.
The Sunrise Service is somewhat rustic. There is no stage. The worship leaders are somewhat down from the crest of the Mound, facing west. Those worshiping sit on the ground or in lawn chairs facing a beautiful sunrise (hopefully).
