Plan an afternoon makeover. Raid the dress up bin or stop at a local thrift store to pick up everything you need. Girls can go for the obvious princess look, or try something different like their favorite TV or pop star.
Model Your Makeover
Set up a runway and show off your new look. Invite your friends over to do the same. Practice your “walk” and video tape the show.
For the little ones, after they finish their makeover, they’ll be thrilled to invite all their favorite stuffed animals to a tea party. Make mini-cookies and child-friendly tea (apple juice makes a good substitute).
This can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. You and your daughter can literally make an appointment to have pedicures together, or you can stay at home and give each other mock manicures and pedicures (my daughter gets a kick out of painting my nails)! You can also invite a group of friends over and have the girls give each other treatments. Make sure you have lotions, glitter, nail appliques, and lots of nail polish.
No matter what age, girls love sleepovers. Get some popcorn, pizza, and DVDs. Be ready for pillow fights and lots of gossip.
Rearrange or Redecorate
Girls love having their rooms made over. This can be as simple as rearranging the furniture, to having a complete makeover. No matter what age, girly-girls will love being part of the planning process.
Rent a Chick Flick and Send the “Boys” (dad/brothers) out for the night. Here are some movies to get started. Use your own discretion, based on the ages of your children.
