Zip Lining Dallas: Go Ape Plano
Looking for a fun Zip Lining adventure in the Dallas Area? Check out Go Ape in Plano, just 30 minutes north of Dallas.
If you’ll recall, last year we visited just after they opened this new location. Talk about a thrill!! An adventure like this is something your kids will remember for a lifetime! You can check out last year’s video HERE.
This year, Go Ape Plano invited us to visit again… and this time, we got to bring some friends!! Sharing this experience with a group makes it all the more fun!!
Go Ape Plano is so much more than zip lines! Their Treetop Adventure course offers guest a fully immersive outdoor experience. The treetop course features 5 sections, each leading you higher into the forest canopy. With 39 exciting crossings; like the Pirates Crossing, Fisherman’s Trap, 2 Tarzan swings and 5 zip lines, you’re guaranteed a one-of-a-kind outdoor adventure worth talking about.
Booking online with Go Ape is easy.
We started our day getting geared up for our adventure. Go Ape takes safety seriously, which is so reassuring! Our guide Chase got us set up with harnesses, made sure everything was securely fastened, and explained how everything worked.
After a short walk to the course, Chase further explained the safety rules and talked us through the procedures to hook yourself into the cable system, and ascend the rope ladder to the course above.
At first, it seemed a little complicated, but there are signs throughout the course to help, and once you’ve gone through it a couple of times, the process becomes second nature.
The course consists of 5 sections, each of which have 7-8 “crossings” (tight wires, cargo nets, Tarzan swings, zip lines, and more)!
Along the way, you’ll find a couple of “forks in the road” where you’ll have options, depending on how adventurous you’re feeling!
The course takes 2-3 hours to complete.
Current pricing (May 2017) is $58 for anyone 16 and older; $38 for those age 10-15.
Minimum age: 10 years old
Minimum height: 4ft 7in (55 inches)
Maximum weight: 285 lbs (subject to harness fit)
Supervision: One participating adult (18+) is required to supervise up to two 10-15 year olds. 16-17 year olds do not require a supervising adult, but do require a waiver signed.
Closed toe and closed heel shoes are required, and I would highly recommend bringing some gloves (It’s amazing what a workout the course is).
Taking that first step off of the platform is usually the hardest part. But once you do, the thrill is indescribable!! #LiveLifeAdventurously
Go Ape is located within the beautiful Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (in Plano). As you go through the course, you’ll notice people walking and biking on the trails beneath you:) Set aside some time to explore the park or have a picnic after your treetop adventure! Sharing stories with your family and friends is almost as fun as the adventure itself!
