A story of Friendship: From Preschool to High School Graduation
From 18 months to 18 Years
Highland Village Friends Celebrate Graduation by Returning to Preschool Where It All Started.
As many of their former classmates were celebrating summer, six friends donned their cap and gown one more time to take one last photo at the place their friendship began almost 18 years ago. With their proud moms along for the trip down memory lane, they headed back to Primrose School of Highland Village. The five graduates from Edward S. Marcus High School and one graduate from Lake Dallas High, had no idea that their final high school photoshoot would bring out the toddler in them – literally – as they closed this chapter in their lives.
Wendy Ghattas is the Executive Director and Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Highland Village and when she saw the gathering in her parking lot, she went out see what was going on. The six friends explained that they had all met at Primrose School of Highland Village when they were in the 18-month-old class together. They stayed friends throughout their K-12 years and had just graduated.
“I was so taken with their story that my eyes began to well up. What could be more endearing to see, than six young men and women that met in preschool, kept up their friendship all through school and now were going to college,” Mrs. Ghattas stated. In the moment, she realized that she could give the students and their moms one last memory, so she invited them into a back classroom, where they sat in the little preschool chairs and she brought them snacks. She also led them to the playground and let them take even more pictures. “Okay, which one of you was the biter?”, she jokingly asked and all the friends laughed and pointed to the guilty friend.
“We feel honored that they would take time to come back to where it all began. As a parent, a teacher and the School Owner/Director, I am so proud that we were able to lay the foundation of friendship, learning and success for these young men and women,” Mrs. Ghattas continued.
We often say, “Once a Primrose Kid— Always a Primrose Kid” but on this day, that statement just added so much more depth and authenticity. It does take a ‘Village’ and we are proud to continue to be an integral part of our beautiful Highland Village Family, for over 20 years.”
