We’ve all heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” but it’s not until one becomes a parent that the reality of this proverb truly sinks in. Caregivers quickly learn the value of the village, a network of people who come alongside the day-to-day busyness of life. Group activities and lessons serve to surround children with as many facets of care as possible, and that includes introducing them to swim lessons.
During swim lessons at Aqua-Tots Swim Schools Flower Mound, children have the opportunity to learn life-saving water skills such as submersion, breath control, floating and swim strokes—skills that they will carry into adulthood. However, the life lessons learned during swim lessons go beyond the pool, creating opportunities for children to bond with their caregivers, make new friends, build a network of support through coaches and swim school staff and develop valuable character traits.
Parent and Tot Classes are an amazing way to bond with a baby or toddler from 4 – 30 months old. When you join your little one in the pool, you are able to adapt to the water together and establish important boundaries to keep curious tots safe. This is also an excellent place to meet other parents, grandparents and caregivers traveling a similar road of raising small children.
As children get older, they are introduced to classes with friends. Small class sizes (4:1 student instructor ratio) create an environment where children can engage with other students 2-3 times per week, and for preschoolers especially, learning alongside peers may be a new and rewarding environment for them to develop social skills such as listening, cooperation and encouragement toward others.
Swim lessons come with a whole new support system, including swim instructors. Our calm, confident coaches are more than teens looking for a part-time job. They are hand selected because they have a heart for children, to keep them safe for a lifetime and to become a child’s greatest cheerleader! Week in and week out, swim instructors guide and encourage students, and more often than not, become an extension of the family as little ones advance year-round through each of the swim levels on their way to becoming safe and confident swimmers.
New Character Traits
Swim lessons develop valuable character traits such as follow-through, commitment, goal setting and perseverance. Additionally, watching children who are apprehensive around the water discover courage and develop confidence are traits that we celebrate! A child who is confident in their abilities, while maintaining safety, puts a smile on everyone’s face.
At Aqua-Tots Swim Schools, we know how many plates you’re spinning as a parent. But you don’t have to spin them alone or spin them all, for that matter. We’re here to support you in your journey teaching those in your care everything they need to know to remain safe in and around the water for a lifetime.
