Plant flowers in little pots that the kids have decorated. Plant an edible garden. Tend to your plants all summer long, watering, weeding, and harvesting.
Work & Have Fun
Have an outside work day to get the yard in shape. Gather the materials needed for a special outdoor project with your kids, such as a kid-sized garden or building a birdhouse or bird feeder. Plan a special treat afterwards for everyone’s hard work such as ice cream or a splash in the sprinkler.
Camping in Backyard
Pitch a tent, have a barbeque or picnic, and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether it’s for an afternoon, or overnight, kids will love the idea of camping in their own backyard.
Let the kids get messy and wet as they clean your car or van.
Share your knowledge, even if it’s limited to the Big Dipper and Venus.
Moonless skies are best for seeing the stars, but moon-gazing is fun, too. If you don’t have a telescope, an ordinary pair of binoculars will enlarge the moon so that the craters and valleys and mountains will stand out.
