The Dallas Arboretum invited us to a media preview of this year’s Dallas Blooms. Thank you to our guest contributor, Ashley Flood, for the following write-up…
The beauty of spring awaits you and your family at Dallas Blooms, the largest floral festival in the Southwest. From February 29 through April 12 the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is filled with splashes of color in the form of blooming tulips, azaleas and cherry trees.

Arrive early for a good parking spot, because this festival is popular with everyone! After passing through the ticket booth, you will see hundreds of planted tulips and flowers perfectly manicured along the stroller-friendly paved path.
There are restrooms at the entrance and then you can grab a latte or snack at the cafe that has tables overlooking White Rock Lake. If you follow the path down the hill, along the stream of water and over the bridge there will be a large grassy area with picnickers and readers.
There are garden benches at every turn for a restful stop or a time to sit and let the kids run and explore. Wear your walking shoes and bring your stroller because you will want to see it all! And on the other side of the Arboretum are more walking paths, more benches, more flowers, more restrooms and more dining options.
At the far end you will find the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden filled with water features and interactive garden exhibits.
This year, the Dallas Blooms festival has a theme of “Sounds of Spring.” You will see plants shaped into musical instruments throughout your walk. The festival offers daily activities, many are included in the entrance fee, such as concerts on and tastings. Some of the family activities you can find this year are a Mommy and Me mornings and Musical Scavenger Hunts.
