No service in 2021, but crosses will be put on The Mound
47 years ago, the first Easter Sunrise Service was held on the Flower Mound. The first Easter Service was 1974.
The Easter Service quickly became a Flower Mound tradition that has been carried on by The Summit Club, The Women of Flower Mound, & The Mound Foundation. On behalf of the three Flower Mound civic organizations, we want to invite everyone to the service.
Historically, a local Flower Mound church is invited each year to to present a service, song, and praise.
Unfortunately, although The Mound Foundation has decided to put up the crosses this year, there will not be a service. They look forward to being back on schedule in 2022.
The Summit Club is putting up the crosses on March 27. If any Family eGuide dads are interested in helping, please arrive by 8:30am. Carrying the crosses up is a wonderful experience.
The crosses will remain up until the morning of April 10th. Families are welcome to take photos during the Easter season, but please be aware of a few simple rules and guidelines:
- Foot traffic only (no bikes, etc.)
- Remain on the paths up to to top of The Mound
- Don’t pick the wildflowers
- No littering
- Pick up after pets
The nature of a native blackland prairie is wild plants. We strongly recommend comfortable clothing and shoes.
The Mound is located near the intersection of FM3040 & FM2499.
The Mound is a 12+acre native prairie grassland that rises above the surrounding area. It makes a dramatic backdrop for family photos. Over 300 species of native flowers have been identified on The Mound.
