Celebrate With The Colony!
Join us for a weekend of family fun as we celebrate the birth of America’s freedom at the 26th Annual Liberty By The Lake festival. We kick off the morning celebration with the Liberty 5K/10K/1M race at Stewart Creek Park, 3700 Sparks Rd. That evening we finish the festivities with a concert, food vendors, rides and the best fireworks around! Don’t miss the fun!
THE RUN
The 38th Annual Liberty 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is a family event, for participants of all ages! Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate! This event is hosted by the Knights of Columbus and The Colony Parks & Recreation Department.
Please arrive early to ensure that you are ready for the start of the race! We recommend that all runners and walkers be parked and in the race area no later than 7:15am.
Parking is located at the field parking area at Pecan Crossing and N Colony Blvd. Parking staff will be onsite to assist with where to go. Additional parking is located at Ethridge Elementary School and the surrounding neighborhood.
Walkers are encouraged to participate in the 5K.

When: Thursday, July 4, 2024
- 6:30am – Race day packet pick up begins
- 7:15am – All runners should arrive
- 7:30am – 1 Mile Fun Run race begins
- 7:50am – 5K race begins
Parking for the run is FREE. On-site parking will be located in the large grass field located off Pecan Crossing/N Colony Blvd. Overflow parking is located at Ethridge Elementary School.
Awards
- Finisher medals for everyone!
- 1 Mile Fun Run – For all ages! This is a “for fun” event and times will not be recorded.
- 5K Run – Trophies for overall and masters winners and specialty medals for the first 3 in each age group and division.
- Male and Female divisions. Age groups: 0-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
THE PARADE
The parade theme this year is Celebrating TC. Decorating your vehicle is not mandatory, but will add to the fun and is the way to enter the running for cash prizes and/or trophies!
To register for the parade, please complete this form. Entry forms can be submitted to the Parks and Recreation Department. Day-of registration will be accepted at parade check-in. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.
Where:
The parade route will start at Peters Colony Elementary School and head West along Nash Dr. Then the parade will turn South on Blair Oaks. It will finish at The Colony High School teachers parking lot.
When:
9:15am – Parade line-up begins
10:00am – Parade starts moving along Nash
The awards presentation for the parade will take place immediately following the parade in The Colony High School Parking Lot. Entries that show exceptional patriotic spirit and support the parade theme will be awarded trophies and prizes.
THE FESTIVAL
Where: The Athletic Club (Formerly Five Star Sports Complex), 4100 Blair Oaks. All parking is FREE.
On-site parking is available at The Colony Five Star Complex, South Lot & The Colony High School, 4301 Blair Oaks.
When:
6:00pm – Festival begins
7:00pm – Watermelon Eating Contest
9:30pm – Fireworks Finale!
10:00pm – Festival Ends
Musical Entertainment:
We have the pleasure and talent to have a premier gig band, teacher band and professional band from the School of Rock performing!

- 7:00pm – Sound Advice Party Cover Band
- 8:15pm – The Kidds – Professional Original & Country Cover Band
For safety reasons, personal grills, personal coolers and glass containers are not allowed to be brought into The Colony Five Star Complex for Liberty By The Lake on July 1st. Outside beverages (including adult beverages) are not allowed.
