Police Headquarters, 1187 W. Main St., Lewisville, TX
The Lewisville Police Department was officially created on Aug. 9, 1939. Attendees at this event will be allowed to tour the jail, learn the history of the department, and learn about modern crime-fighting techniques and equipment. LPD’s Armored Personnel Carrier and the new SWAT Faber Utility Vehicle will be on display, along with several other LPD vehicles. Attendees will have the chance to look inside those vehicles to learn how they work, and their importance in helping officers effectively do their jobs. K9 officers Cziko and Stryker, and their handlers, will demonstrate their role in the crime-fighting process. Guided tours of the police station begin at 6 p.m. and will end at 8:30 p.m.
Several specialty booths will be set up inside Police Headquarters for the Lewisville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County, LPD dispatchers, LPD recruiting, C7 Human Trafficking Coalition, and Lewisville-Flower Mound Teen Court.
Lewisville Fire Department will join their brothers and sisters in blue at this event. There will be at least one fire apparatus on site that attendees can look over and learn about.
Animal Services will have a special adoption center, and representatives will be handing out literature on adoptions and volunteer opportunities.
This is a free, family event. Righteous BBQ and Tikiz Shaved Ice will have food trucks on-site selling food and snow cones. The Greg Nicholson Insurance Agency is helping sponsor this event. Attendees are asked to park in the north lot between Central Fire Station and the Library. This lot is accessible from Valley Parkway and Civic Circle.
