In just a few weeks, Broadway actress Laura Leigh Turner will fly from New York to Texas to partner with CYT Dallas in their second annual gala event.
September 24th will be an evening to remember, combining Laura Leigh’s passion for discipleship through the arts and CYT’s rich 42 year history in the field of theatre ministry. Lillian, a CYT student since 2020, called the chance to share the stage with a Broadway performer a “dream come true.” She went on to say “Laura Leigh Turner is so talented and she is rooted in her identity in Christ. She is a role model and I am so excited to meet her.”
Making her Broadway debut in Mean Girls as Karen, Laura Leigh Turner currently resides in New York City. She has appeared in regional and school productions of Memphis, Hairspray, Sister Act, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Shrek The Musical. Her current project and passion is developing and managing risecollectivewomen.com. Rise Collective is about cultivating tight-knit communities for women to experience the transforming love of Christ, grow up into the Gospel and rise into disciple makers.
CYT develops character and creativity in kids of all ages through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting the Creator. While CYT is a nation-wide organization with 23 branches across the U.S., the Dallas branch is just 7 years old. With its primary operations in Flower Mound, Texas, CYT Dallas has grown exponentially in the past few years. Even through COVID, it has grown from 77 active students in the Fall of 2020 to 129 in the Fall of 2022. As CYT expands to both minister to and educate more students each session, its need for a strong financial foundation grows. The Greatest Show: Neverland gala event provides the perfect opportunity to join us on this mission.
This black tie event will feature performances by CYT students and Laura Leigh Turner, dinner, silent and live auctions, pre-function entertainment, and an after party hosted by In10City Band. The venue, Silverlake 2200 in Grapevine, Texas boasts a beautiful ballroom, which will be transformed into the magical forest of Neverland. Sponsors will have the opportunity to attend the VIP reception to meet Laura Leigh Turner, and every guest will enjoy an evening full of performances by the CYT students.
This will be Lillian’s second time performing in the gala. As a freshman in high school, Lillian is very involved in CYT classes and shows, and calls this community her “happy place.” When asked why someone should attend the gala, Lillian said “Not only will gala guests experience a magical evening of performing and fun, but the money raised from this event will support CYT‘s mission of instilling confidence, lifelong skills, and integrity in the next generation. CYT has changed my life in so many ways… I’m thankful for all of the generous supporters both past and present that choose to invest in me and all of the other CYT students.”
