Lone Star Park Grand Prairie
Recently, Lone Star Park invited my family and I for a day at the races. Have you ever been? It’s a great outing for the whole family!
The grounds are amazing and the horses are absolutely BEAUTIFUL to watch. You’ll often find kids leaning over the rails, trying to get the best view possible of these incredible animals!
Be sure to head behind the main building to the paddock area. This is where you’ll find the stables, as well as the horses heading to and from races. Trainers often exercise the horses in this area, so kids really enjoy it!
Wagering
Betting is completely optional, but you never know… Our daughter recommended a long-shot, so we placed our $2 bet and actually won over $100.00!!

Lone Star Park also offers a number of special promotions and events throughout the season, such as “Sunday Discounts” – Bring a Pepsi can and receive one (1) free General Admission and one (1) free large Pepsi every Sunday ( *Offers are valid on Sundays during live racing only. )

What you need to know…
Live Racing at Lone Star Park
- Thoroughbred Season – April 20 – July 30
- Quarter Horse Season – September 15 – November 11
During live racing, General Admission is available at all admission gates. Advance tickets and reserved seating are available at designated admission sales gates and at the “Reserved Seat” counter; located on the first floor of the Grandstand near the elevators.
Age Requirements:
- To Enter: There is no minimum age to enter our Grandstand for live racing, although children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent (children 3 and younger are admitted free of charge).
- To Wager: The minimum age to place a wager is 21.
Admission Levels
There are a variety of admission levels which allow Lone Star Park guests to select the Park access that best fits their needs. Please note, prices subject to change on Big Event Days.
Grandstand Admission
General Admission: $5.00
Clubhouse Admission: $8.00
Children ages 4-12: $3.00
Children ages 3 and younger are admitted free of charge.
Guests are admitted to the first level of the Grandstand featuring concessions, wagering services, and the track’s gift shop. General Admission does not include a reserved seat. Standing room is always ample and visitors are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs for use in the grassy areas in front of Bar & Book and the Courtyard of Champions, a picnic area with limited seating and great views of the track.
