World’s largest single-marquee motorcycle gathering rides into Grapevine for 39th Annual Wing Ding
August 29 – September 2, 2017
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association’s (GWRRA) annual international event, “Wing Ding,” returns to Grapevine August 29 – September 2. Wing Ding is the largest single-marquee motorcycle gathering of its kind in the world and is expected to bring more than 8,000 riders of Honda Gold Wings, known as “Wingers,” and other touring motorcycles to Grapevine.
Celebrating GWRRA’s 40th anniversary and currently in the 39th year of the event, Wing Ding riders will converge from all over the United States and the world to enjoy the riding, attractions and hospitality of Grapevine. The four-day event will be filled with rider safety training, competitions and several free and entertaining events. The public is invited to attend these free events:
- Wing Ding Light Parade – Wednesday, August 30 at 8:30 p.m., Main Street in Historic Downtown Grapevine. Watch as bikes adorned with hundreds of lights and decorations glide down Main Street. Staging begins at the Cotton Belt Depot, 705 S. Main St., from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
- Grand Parade – Saturday, September 2 at 8:30 a.m. See the Wingers travel the streets of Grapevine and end at Grapevine Mills. Approximately 400 Wingers will ride in a processional carrying flags from each state and country representing the diversity of their membership.
- Gold Wing People’s Choice Bike Show – Saturday, September 2 from 9 – 11 a.m. at Grapevine Mills. Directly following the Grand Parade, join the Wingers at Grapevine Mills parking lot area 1C located across the street from Steak & Shake, to vote for your favorite bike in each of the five categories – bike, trike, bike with trailer, trike with trailer and vintage.
- Gold Wing Drill Team Performances – Saturday, September 2 from 9:30 a.m. until Noon at Grapevine Mills. In parking lot area 1B located across the street from Steak & Shake, motorcycle drill teams will demonstrate and show off their precision, synchronized riding skills and more.
Gaylord Texan Resort will be the home for the 400 booth indoor trade show, manufacturer demonstrations, educational seminars and more. The trade show is open to GWRRA members and nonmembers.
