Deborah Dennis Piano Studio is a home-based studio located in the south Denton area that offers small group piano classes. Preschool students ages 4 and 5 can enjoy short courses that introduce them to the very basics of the piano and music concepts.
Students from 1st through 6th grade participate in small groups for one-hour classes that combine an interactive software platform along with the traditional aspects of learning piano.
Preschool Music Enriches Other Learning
Introducing basic piano skills is an excellent way for preschool students to reinforce other concepts they may be currently learning. Music involves numbers and letters, knowing the right hand and left hand, and developing fine motor skills. Piano classes give children an opportunity to apply these skills at the keyboard, explore sounds, and work on hand and finger coordination.
Ms. Deborah always keeps the environment positive and encouraging, focusing on helping young students have a great first experience with the piano.
Small Group Classes for 1st-6th Grade Students
Ms. Deborah has brought new technology into the studio this year, and the current students thoroughly enjoy it! Each student sits at their own digital piano with a laptop and headphones during class. The new curriculum called the Piano Express, is specifically designed for beginning students in a group setting. Each song in the book has an online song file accompaniment that students use to practice during class time and at home. The online accompaniments provide a terrific enhancement to each song, with rhythm and instrumentation that make practice fun and engaging. As students play along, the grading feature provides immediate feedback and a score, helping them know precisely what and where they need more practice.
Ms. Deborah helps each student and addresses individual needs and questions. At the class mid-point, students spend the remaining time learning new theory concepts, mastering playing skills, reviewing, and ear-training.

Ms. Deborah has been teaching in the south Denton area for over twenty years and is an active member of the Denton Music Teachers Association. With degrees in piano and pedagogy, she has taught students of all ages and levels, helping them reach their music goals. Ms. Deborah hopes that each student who comes to her studio will experience the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes with learning to play the piano and create music.
