Home Educators Alliance for Resources and Training of Texas, Inc. may be an organization for homeschooling families, but they have lots of valuable information for parents of kids who go to school as well.
Check out their latest newsletter for information about local events, special discounts at area museums, and programs (such as Pizza Hut’s Book It and Braums’ Book Buddy) that offer special opportunities for students (some require school participation, while others can be done as individuals – please check details for each program).
They also offer information on current contests and competitions, such as Legos and Robotics programs from FIRST, Math and art contests, and engineering programs. These programs vary, but some are open to students as young as six years old. Often, there are prizes for the winners of these competitions, which may include scholarships.

HOME: Homeschoolers Offering Moms Encouragment
https://www.handsonhomeschooling.com/
Homeschooling is a lifestyle. The moment you welcome a child into your heart and in to your home, you begin to teach the child about the world around them.
Hands on Homeschooling offers lesson plans and activities for preschoolers age 2 through 5 (kindergarten) that can bring purpose to your daily play. Some people will choose to offer the activities as a way to keep a child busy during the day, some are looking for a way to prepare a child to enter a “regular” school system, and others may see this as the beginning of a lifelong educational experience. No matter where you are along this journey, Hands on Homeschooling has a lot to offer.
