The Roanoke Public Library is excited to announce the opening of the Little Oak Street Play Learning Center. The space invites children, ages 2 – 6 years old, and their caregivers, to practice play learning.
The Roanoke Public Library’s Little Oak Street features five different play areas, which will change seasonally.
Those areas include summer on Little Oak Street presenting a “Mid-Town Market” which offers little learners a farmer’s market play experience, a “Sweet Shack” ice cream shop play area, “Ristorante Roanoke” highlighting Roanoke’s Unique Dining Capital moniker, the “Build-It Barn” with tools and blocks, and “Picnic Park” with an outdoor barbeque play space.
Little Oak Street’s Fall Scenes open beginning 10/16
Play hours are Mon-Sat 11am-1pm & 3:30pm-5:30pm
All aboard for fun learning! There are changes to your favorite play learning center. Beginning 10/16, you can roast s’mores at Camp Cozy, visit our Pumpkin Patch, grab a bite at Mesa Mexican or Betty’s Bakery, and play with trains at the Denim Depot.
Each play area provides signage suggesting specific skills parents can practice with their child, and a QR code scannable reading list, featuring recommended topic specific books offered in the Roanoke Public Library.
The Little Oak Street space will be open at the Roanoke Public Library Monday through Saturday in two sessions: from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The Little Oak Street project was funded entirely by generous private donations.
