Four of the six productions in their season offer a role for every child who auditions. One show each season travels to three LISD Title-1 elementary schools. Children who may not have the opportunity otherwise, may enjoy a live theatre experience. All shows require very low participation fees since almost all of the work is completed by production family volunteers.
When their building was sold in August, the rent for this small non-profit children’s theatre was tripled. The ACT families were faced with the reality they would soon be without a home. Finding a space to use remains a challenge for this organization which strives to make theatre accessible to all children and to the community.
The ACT has leased a new space near Lake Park in Lewisville and construction has started to create a new stage, lighting, sound, and backstage for their 17th season. So, costume sewing continues, rehearsals resume, props are sorted, and the families of The ACT continue preparing two fall children’s shows. In addition to the six season productions, The ACT will also offer a variety of theatre classes to include all aspects of the performing arts at their new facility.
